Ministry denies plans to forbid imports of plastic goods
MOSCOW, Mar 21 (PRIME) -- The Industry and Trade Ministry has no plans to ban imports of plastic goods but is working to cut harm to the environment by restricting its turnover, a ministry representative said on Tuesday, when daily Izvestiya said that the ministry wanted to prohibit imports of plastic goods of 28 types, including disposable utensils, plastic containers, cups, bags and cotton swabs, and to restrict its output.
"No prohibition of imports or a ban on production are discussed,” the representative told reporters.
“We have to note that it is the restriction of the sales of some types of packaging that will affect the need to import plastic packages because of market factors, which means that demand for such products in the country will decrease."
